Participant scientists and institutions

GADCAP goals need from the interaction of multiple international scientific institutions since it deals with the development of a model for multiple species which have been fished differentially by multiple countries in an area managed by an international organization, NAFO.

In addition to the international commercial fleet, research surveys have been conducted in the Flemish Cap during different time period by different countries and institutions. Since 1977 to 1985 there was a bottom trawl survey conducted by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans of Canada, while from 1988 upto nowadays Spain (IEO and IIM) and Portuguese (IPMA) institutions conduct an annual bottom trawl survey in representation of the EU.

Meanwhile, the main developer of GADGET models nowadays is Dr. Daniel Howell, and one of his main collaborators Dr. Bjarte Bogstad. Both research scientists work in Bergen, at the IMR.

All this factors in combination produce a project where four countries and five institutions are implied: Canada (DFO), Spain (IEO and IIM), Portugal (IPMA) and Norway (IMR).

In the subsections, each of this institutions is  explained more in depth as well as the research scientists from each institution which are directly implied in GADCAP.
